Forth Valley area – Joint Dementia Initiative

The Joint Dementia Initiative provides services for people of any age with a memory difficulty as well as their families and carers.

This project has been providing services in the Forth Valley area since 1991. Managed by Falkirk Council, the project works jointly with NHS Forth Valley. The range of services provided are for people of any age who have a diagnosis of dementia or a related condition. One such service is the Mutual Support Group which was established in 1996. This group meets monthly, providing the opportunity for people who have a diagnosis of dementia to meet to discuss their feelings and to exchange coping strategies. Members have been active in the Scottish Dementia Working Group since its inception.
