Lochaber Way Ahead Group
A group for people with dementia…are you interested in joining us?
We formed a Lochaber-wide group to allow people with this condition to get together once a month. Our aims are to create an informal and sociable gathering where people can:
- enjoy each other’s company and support
- learn from each other
- share experiences
We are also keen to raise awareness of what it’s like to live with dementia and to work together with others to improve services.
Dementia affects people from all walks of life. Different kinds of dementia can lead to different problems, and each person’s progress is different.
Our group provides a chance to speak about ourselves and the way in which dementia affects our lives. We can share the whole range of emotions in a comfortable space and feel less alone on our journey. We also look at practical steps we can take to improve our quality of life and feel we’re doing something positive and having fun while doing it!
We’re finding a way ahead for ourselves. We try to alternate social outings and informal meetings.
